I will warn you now… If you have no knowledge
of muscle testing
(also known as Manual Muscle Testing, and Autonomic
Response Testing)
or experienced kinesiology, you will probably think it to death. You’ll try
to make it so complicated or mysterious. I know I did. Truth be told, I’ve
studied it for several years now and I still can’t get my mind around the unlimited
power yet simplicity of it! In the beginning,
you’ll second-guess yourself in
your use of muscle testing
(especially verbal). With a little practice and
experience you can begin to uncover the reasons for and remove blockages producing
symptoms that have left the best of Doctors scratching their heads and shrugging
their shoulders.
Inside and around your body is a network of
energy and energy field. Every process, system or item contained in your body
relies on this network at all times. To use an example you are probably
somewhat familiar with… When a virus comes in contact with or invades your body, your energy network and
nerves will immediately send a query request to your nervous system. Your
nervous system will then access data stored in its database to determine things such as “what it
is”, “Have I come in contact with this
strain before”, “How did I fight it last time”, “was that fight successful”
etc. Then using that same network it will rally your immune troops to begin
an
attack. Depending on the location of that point of contact or invasion, your immune system
starts signaling or communicating across that same network cough, sneeze, close
the throat, water the eyes, produce diarrhea, vomit etc.
The circuits (translated as meridians) of this
energy network were accurately defined, but more importantly, mapped by
traditional Chinese medicine more than 5,000 years ago. They still use it for acupuncture
today. When some data (about a food you are eating, sight you are seeing,
hormone being received, texture you are feeling etc.) comes across this
electrical system and is identified incorrectly, incompatible, or unnecessarily
stressful by your body it will disrupt (block completely or greatly diminish)
the electrical current throughout the circuit. Your brain and cells then
stores this data for future reference. That substance will always block or
disrupt the energy circuit until the cells and brain are retrained to recognize
it correctly.
You can test for this disruption by applying
gentle but firm sustained pressure on a muscle while holding an apple (for
example). If the energy current through the network remains intact, the joint
will lock into place and the muscle will remain strong against the gentle but
firm sustained pressure. When this happens, it means the body has properly
identified (this particular) apple as a food and your body is handling it appropriately.
On the other hand, if it is seen as incompatible or mishandled, it will disrupt
the current, causing it to short-circuit and block the energy flow to the
muscle. This will cause the joint to unhinge or unlock and the muscle to weaken
or give way upon the same amount of gentle sustained pressure.
If you happen to be a science nerd like me, you
want to see the scientific evidence. There are some good scientific
studies validating kinesiology and muscle testing. One study shows novice
muscle testers are consistently accurate as compared to ones with vast
experience. One of the best studies to date shows that foods tested weak
kinesiologically were confirmed clinically with blood antibody serum tests.
The particular summary I have of this study doesn't have the conclusion that all
of the foods that the serum antibody tested reactive to tested weak
kinesiologically. However, a few other foods tested kinesiologically weak.
The researcher concluded this might indicate the possibility that muscle testing
could be even more sensitive than serum antibody testing. Another study
indicates that brain function producing a weak and strong are fundamentally
different. Still another study, concludes the muscles producing weak and
strong are fundamentally different and isn't attributable to typical muscle
fatigue. Lastly another study shows the consistency and accuracy of verbal
muscle testing with a yes or a true statement producing a strong muscle and a no
or a false statement producing a weak muscle response.
Currently I only have summaries of these studies but plan on ordering the full
articles to publish on my site. In addition, I’ll keep scouring the medical journals to
find newly published ones to add. If you wish to see the summaries
of the studies cited in the above paragraph,

There are, admittedly, some poorly
constructed tests out there. One of those being a test cited by Quack Watch,
which they’ve incorrectly concluded… “I've seen well-trained and
well-regarded muscle testers who were unable to discern strychnine from water
when put to a double blind test."
In
response to this bashing of muscle testing on Quack Watch… They have assumed
that it doesn’t work if someone using muscle testing can’t determine strychnine
from water. Theoretically in perfect health and harmony you should test strong
for both items. That doesn’t mean you will. Therefore you really shouldn’t be
able to “tell” if an item is good or bad with a strong for water and weak for
strychnine. If there was a disruption for strychnine that blockage would
prevent it from being fast tracked through the detox organs. The body might
even erroneously store it or try and use it in some way. I am surprised that
these “well-trained and well-regarded muscle testers” even agreed to participate
in such a poorly designed double blind study! My guess is they were unaware of
the researchers misconceptions about muscle testing.
What you
are “asking” the body by muscle testing greatly depends on the substance or
stimulus tested. It is not if this is good or bad, rather, does this person's
body
recognize, process, rid, react, believe and/or behave etc. to this item appropriately?
In other words, are you handling toxins as toxins or essential minerals like
essential minerals? Has your immune system properly identified pathogens or are
they allowing or aiding them to proliferate? Are your hormones able to
communicate with glands, organs and cells effectively and efficiently? Do
certain sights, sounds, smells, textures register appropriately? Does your body
literally have emotional “hang-ups”? I'm sure you get the jist.
Different Types of Muscle Testing
Let me
clarify some of the language I might use before I go on. If I say disruption,
imbalance, blockage, stress, weakness, allergy, misidentification, adaptation,
incongruence, false, no, negative, psychological reversal or incompatibility, I
am referring to any substance (food, hormone, chemicals, enzymes, pathogens
etc.), stimulus (sights, sounds, textures, movement, smells etc), experiences or
situations (emotions, thoughts, memories, places etc) that tests with a “weak”
or “unlocked” joint / muscle while performing a muscle test while in contact
with the “source” or “energy” (substance, stimulus, or situation) being tested.
Verbal Muscle Testing
Verbal muscle testing is the most powerful tool
for health and harmony that I have found. As a person plagued for years with
numerous chronic illnesses, working and studying nutrition and natural health, and mother of a
fully recovered autistic child, needless to say, my search has
been extensive indeed. Since learning these methods that I hope to teach you,
there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t use them. It has had, without a
doubt, the greatest impact on my life and that of my daughters. I will forever
be grateful to the powers that be. For the details on our personal success
stories see the Personal Journey page.
Any yes
or no question can be tested for the purposes of measuring disruption or
determining the best course of treatment for an individual. "Yes"
will indicate a strong muscle response and "No" will register a weak muscle
response. The only issues that, in my experience, can’t be determined are
matters of time and space. This is because as Quantum Physics proves these
things don’t exist in the linear fashion that we know them. Early on, I would
try to use verbal testing to look for things in my home. “Where is the power
bill – Is it in the office?” I would get a yes then a no then what I call the
“hesitant no”. (A "hesitant no" roughly translates maybe, could be if put
another way, or ask a better question.) All of these answers are technically correct. Yes the energy
exists here and now, no its not here because it hasn’t been “intended”,
“realized” or “observed”, and the maybe because it has as much existence
probability here and now as not. I did warn you that I am a science geek.
Forming
good yes/no questions sounds so easy, I know. However, it is the most
difficult part of verbal questioning - Forming and asking pertinent questions
and having a good source of knowledge to draw your questions from. Your
sessions will only be as good as your questions. You can not ask questions
you don’t know to ask. This is why it is so very helpful to network with
others using these methods. Others will be drawing from a different
knowledge base. Therefore, they may teach you some better questions or
methods. You will need to practice your skills to become
proficient. Things like testing with a clear mind, not answering your own questions, not
skipping ahead of yourself, asking very unambiguous and very specific
questions and building your confidence which only comes with experience.
However, sometimes experienced testers have a tendency to get lazy or less
mindful of the questions. Sometimes novices are more aware of their
techniques so may produce great sessions.
The
individuality of verbal testing is
why I am convinced that once you learn some good systematic verbal methods, you will be your
own best healer and that of your family especially children. The fact is, you know and care for yourself and your
children more than any doctor would or could. Plus how many times have you
thought... "that (symptom) was kind-of weird" - "I need to remember to
tell the doctor about that when I see him/her next. Then you forget.
Muscle testing is something you can do right on the spot. Not have to remember
down the road or wait
sometimes weeks (or even months) to get results back from traditional testing
methods. You will test in
your own language not medical jargon you may or may not understand.
Localized Muscle Testing
Localized testing generally refers to one of two things. The first is
placing the energy signature of a substance or the substance itself into your your energy
field while testing.
This is the most common type of testing amongst energy medicine practitioners
(NAET, BioSet, BRT etc).
The use of energy vials is standard practice. However, the combination
vials used by some methodologies may not be combined in the most relevant and
natural ways. For example combining every possible energy or form of
vitamin C or calcium would not be as natural as mixing these nutrients with
digestive enzymes, saliva, bone, cells, blood, joints, other minerals etc.
Furthermore, the energy
contained in the vial for "apple" may not be an energetic match to the Fuji or
Golden Delicious you buy in your grocery store. In addition, if you shop
in different stores they won't necessarily be an exact energetic match either
because they might come from different farmers who use different processing
chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, or have regional soil and rain variations.
Localized testing would also include experience or situational testing.
For example you can test for disruption to certain lighting, colors, sounds or
emotions while you are in that situation or having that experience. You
can test memories. Memories that you get "hung-up on" are typically those
that are stored as stressful. Every time you recall a memory that produced
an energetic disruption, you relive the actual stress. That
stress/disruption, of course, has the capacity for causing diseases.
This is widely known and accepted even in traditional western medicine.
The second type is focusing your intention by touching certain spots on the body
while testing. This is used to find problem areas or organs that are out
of balance. These problem areas could be a meridian or circuit, organ, or
areas where toxins or other substances are being stored.
Surrogate Muscle
Testing
If you are working with children (especially very young or uncooperative such as
autistic or ADHD), the severely injured, pets (yes you can do energy work on your pets too!),
or handicapped individuals this becomes critical. Think of a surrogate as
nothing but a human energy conductor. All the surrogate needs to do is
"plug into" them by touching them or being in their energy field. I
recommend actually touching since different people have thicker or thinner
fields. Using a surrogate the "subject" (the person being tested) doesn't
even need to be awake. When I first started energy work on my daughter,
she was still autistic. The rocking and lack of ability for sitting still
was bad enough that I had to work on her while she slept. In addition, she
was so sensitive in the beginning to the energies in the vials, often she would
scream as if in pain or arch her back or body to try to get away from the
substance. She was so reactive, I almost didn't need to perform the muscle
test. After some treatments that sensitivity and extreme reactivity went
away. It was a real blessing to be able to do the treatments while she
slept.
Remote Muscle Testing
Without going into yet another Quantum Mechanics lesson... It is focusing
your intention to connect to someone's energy who is not directly in your energy
field. Think of this as your wireless network access. This is done
by simply using someone's name or perhaps another qualifying description like
husband or mother etc. The more intimately you know the person the less
specific you need to be. However, you must have a clear concept of who you
mean. For example if I were to ask "Is Hannah allergic to apple?" and
test, there is a clear concept that I mean my daughter. If I knew several
people named Chris and I wasn't more intimate with one more than another, I
would need to say Chris my baker or use a full name.
These
things sound more complicated and complex than they really are. I could
probably teach my favorite muscle test named the O-Ring method to a child of
about 7 (give or take a year for maturity and/or ability to follow simple
directions) in a few minutes. Actually children are probably even easier
to teach muscle testing than adults. Let's face it... They are
usually more eager to learn, more open minded and less likely to let their
cynicism, pride, or ego get the best of them.
